Stoicism: To be is to be Calm.

In this world of change, people tend to be optimistic about the future or things whose outcome is random but this is wrong. As Seneca beautifully said, “We suffer more in imaginations than we do in Reality” it was true. Stoicism is the practice of thinking about the Outcomes that will happen based on the current events. Call it logical thinking or Pessimists thinking but it makes you undefeatable. Zeno, the father of Philosophy who studied the works of Socrates said that there are few things in our life that we do not have control upon but we do have control over how we react to those things. Today Stoics are the people who are thought to be unbreakable, the ones that do not melt down from emotions. It is the practice to judge your work based on the number of your efforts rather than the Outcomes. Because somethings are not in our control, even if you try to make them. You have to acknowledge your process rather than crying over spilled milk because what's happened has happened. Maintaining your composure is the most important thing to do. When the Wealthy Merchant, Zeno’s boat sank with all his cargo and life’s work due to Natural calamities, he didn’t get upset nor did he went into anger. He remained calm and thought that the sinking of his boat wasn’t under his control nor he could do anything about it. Anger makes us weak. Stoicism is even practiced by Nelson Mandela, Marcues, one of the strongest Roman kings. “Whatever can happen at any time can happen today” Anything can happen at any time; don’t waste your time worrying about it.  As it says, if you want to practice Stoicism, try to limit your wants; Sleep on a dirty rug, eat stale bread, and then you may find that there is only somethings that you can control in life.

Your past haunts you if you let it. The very idea of being terrorized by your past is like believing in the Illusion of Free Will. Become Unshakeable.
