SPACE EXPLORATION #1

WHY WE EXPLORE SPACE?

People on earth usually find themselves amazed when they look up in the sky whether they may think of it as heavens or the ‘Abode of Gods’ or as an endless expanse of space of or nothingness. This trend is not new as people have looked up in amazement since ancient times whether they may be Ancient Greeks or Ancient Indians, both these civilizations had genius minds who pursued astronomy and tried to reveal the secrets of universe by the limited which they had, there were Ptolemy, Aristotle, Aryabhata, Bhaskaracharya to name a few.

The extent of human interest in the heavens can be found out from the fact that eight planet that is Uranus was discovered 100 years before the seventh continent Antarctic. From these deductions it is very clear that the fundamental push to explore space is, and purely due to, human interest in what lies beyond the earthly borders. In modern space age the rules are bent a little now humans have many other reasons to explore the space some of which can be discovering extra-terrestrial life forms be it only microbes on other planets but that too will be a worth it discovery. But until aliens find us or we find aliens there is plenty much to explore for our better sake this can be another reason to explore planets i.e. extracting elements and minerals from other planets to fuel technology here on earth.

Technology on earth is increasing exponentially, and earth has an only limited supply of elements and minerals to power our technological progress. Hence extracting minerals from a planet which do not hosts any form life will make humans on earth progress efficiently. We can too become first interplanetary species known to mankind by judiciously using the resources from different planets to fuel our technological progress.
