Is there Life in the Outer Space?

And if there is someone out there, then how to communicate with them.

Once in a while, I imagine life in outer space. Is there anyone or are just alone in this Nothingness. Well to say that there is no life out there with just looking at the few stars is like saying there are no Whales just by looking at lakes. There lies an ocean of millions of galaxies out there that are yet to be discovered. So as we life depends on hydrocarbons to sustain on a Planet with should also have a sub-surface ocean. If we take microbes as part of life then there is a high possibility of microbes even on planets of our Solar System. Titan, a satellite of Saturn, is believed to have a sub-surface ocean with an Atmosphere and possibly a hydrocarbon environment. The very essence of finding life on other planets lies in the probability of acceptance. It is said by many great Astrophysicists like Stephen Hawking that if there is an Alien life billions of years ahead of us then they will see us like we see bacteria; they extinguish us because to them we are nothing. It is all a matter of perspective. Many efforts have been done by SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) and METI (Messaging Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) organizations which are in a constant effort to find species outside of form planet Earth. They send radio signals out to different star systems in a hope that someone might catch it and reply. We have also installed a Golden Plate on the Voyager 1 which is the farthest satellite humans have sent into space along with Voyager 2.These probes are roughly 19 billion km away from Earth. These satellites are intended to explore interstellar space and in doing so we hope that some Interstellar Species picks it up learn about our existence.

The golden plate which aboard the Voyager 1has all the details intended to find us. Plus METI is constantly sending radio waves in hope of a reply but seeing that this has been done for nearly half a century, we have encountered what’s called the Fermi Paradox. It says that seeing the progress in these missions and intergalactic travel being impossible (in our current knowledge) it is seen that there is no life in the Outer Space and it is empty. But seeing the recent advancements in science and knowledge we should not let our hope down. Equations like the Drake equations are also there to help us out.

Sending messages to space is fun but what about you? Which sound would you transmit to outer space if you got the chance?

  1. Nice!! There may also be some extraterrestrial beings trying to reach us and waiting for our response.
